Write Protection Notch
Definition:

A write portection notch is a notch on a floppy disk that, when it is covered or closed, prevents a disk from being written to and protects all the data on the disk.

Explanation:

All 3.5" floppy disks have a write protection notch in the upper right hand corner. It looks like a small square hole in the disk. These notches allow you to protect what you have already saved.
