Definition:

A virus is a computer program, usually produced and used maliciously, that can destroy or damage computer information.  Computer viruses are transmitted by floppy disk or by downloading an infected file from an online source.
 

Explanation:

A virus is a code that buries itself in existing computer programs and damages or destroys information.  Infected programs copy the virus to other programs.  A virus can enter a computer from another computer through disks, modems, or networks.
