Default
Definition:

The word "default" means all of the standard actions, instructions, and settings that a computer will use unless it receives other instructions from the user.

Explanation:

When you start your computer, it receives many instructions including, for example, the style and size of font to use, what printer to print to, and much more.  These are "default" settings that can be changed by the user.  The computer will follow the "default" settings unless the user tells it to do something different.
