Database

Definition:

A database is a large collection of data stored in a computer.

Explanation:

A database is an information organizer.  We all use databases in our day-to-day lives.  Common databases include your personal address book, telephone books, an index in the back of a textbook, and the library card catalog.  The information is arranged in order to help us find what we need quickly and efficiently.  A computer database lets you add, delete, and change information in the database.  It also lets you create lists and reports.
