Chip
Definition:

A chip is an integrated circuit.  It is a thin piece of silicon that contains all the components of an electronic circuit.

Explanation:

Chips are very small.  They are about the size of a fingernail and are covered with about 20 thousand electronic circuits.  Each chip is inside a case with pins extending from it.  The pins are plugged into the circuit board inside the computer.  Chips can then process data, make calculations, compare information, and perform operations.
