Byte
Definition:
A byte is a set of eight binary digits (bits that are either 0 or 1) that represent a letter, number, or symbol.  (01000011)

Explanation:

Each byte represents one character (letter, number, or symbol) on the keyboard.  A combination of eight 0's and 1's (bits) make a byte.  This is the amount of information needed by a computer to make one character.
