Welcome to Elementary Social Studies Electronic Field Trip! The resources provided here are an attempt to organize useful sites to help teachers teach the Virginia Standards of Learning in the area of History and Social Sciences. The links are grouped by grade level. You can use the navigation index on the left to get from page to page. When there were a number of sites about a topic, they were organized onto their own page. Not all sites are appropriate for you to use with
your students. Many are there as curriculum development resources as help for the
classroom teacher. You should always preview and evaluate sites before you use them
with students! Follow this link for TSIP Ideas. Make a hard copy of the sites that you like and organize them in a notebook. This way you can look at the sites without having to go clicking everywhere. You can also make notes on your copy to use as an easy reference. For example, with the Virginia Department of Education site (Teaching Virginia Standards of Learning), go to the grade and subject of interest. After you print a hard copy (it will be a lot of pages!), go back and go through each of the links, making notations about each one. This will save you time in the long run. You may even want to divide this task up among teachers in your grade level or department. These pages are updated, so be sure to check back from time to time to see if they have added any new things! Don't forget, you can always organize the sites you like best in folders and
store them under Favorites or Bookmarks, or even on your desktop! Every attempt was made to insure that each of the links work properly.
